The Wellfleet Booksmith
At the Wellfleet Marketplace

When Marshall Smith, a legendary name in New England bookselling,  purchased what had been Lema's Grocery Store in 2007, he decided that, in addition to keeping the store an independent full service grocery, he would expand the offerings to include a Deli, a Beer and Wine Department, Gift Selections and, not surprisingly, a Bookstore within the store. Thus Wellfleet became part of a storied career that began in 1961 when Marshall opened The Paperback Booksmith (now the Brookline Booksmith)  in Coolidge Corner. Over the years Marshall grew his business to include 75 Booksmiths throughout the Northeast, as well as 87 Learningsmiths plus a chain of video rental stores under the name of Videosmiths. But, at heart, Marshall has always been a Bookman and we're proud to be a part of this long tradition of bringing the best in fiction, non fiction, children's books and local favorites to both our year 'round community and our summer visitors.  To see our Cape Cod page for our always in stock Wellfleet and Cape books, click here.
